“I am having a problem with aggression (or extreme fear) in my dog. Can I bring him/her to classes” Dogs with moderate to serious aggression or fear problems (either toward people or dogs) will not have their needs met in general classes - in most cases group classes will actually make the problem worse and we don’t want that for you or your dog. In these cases we advise a behavioural consultation with an accredited behaviourist. The following behaviourists service the greater JHB region. “Does McKaynine also offer boarding kennels?” Unfortunately we do not offer either - we can however recommend the following: Pin Oaks Kennel - Boarding Kennel www.pinoakskennels.co.za Caity Cares - House Sitting www.caitycares.co.za “Does McKaynine offer in-board training?” This type of training is not offered by us. We do not agree with the principles of in-board training, so are unable to make any recommendations in this regard. “I need help introducing my new dog to my existing dogs/cats” This is a very specific situation often requiring an in-home visit and thus not something we can address in classes.  Please contact one of the behaviourists referred to above. “Please can you give me a list of breeders of a particular breed?” We do not maintain a list of breeders as this is outside of our scope - please contact the Kennel Union of SA in this regard for an up-to-date list of breeders per breed www.kusa.co.za. “Which breed of dog should I get?” This is not something we can advise on during a typical phone call or via email as there are many factors to consider. The best advise we can give is to do research and contact the breeders - they are best suited to advise whether a breed is right or wrong for you. Behaviourists (as listed above) can also assist you greatly in this regard. “I need to get my dog attack-trained - does McKaynine offer this?” The type of training we do at McKaynine is called manwork and it is not attack-training per se. Manwork is a stylised sport and we only do this training with dogs that will be actively competing in this sport. If you are looking for this attack training in JHB we suggest you contact Chris Waldron at K9 Training Centre www.k9training.co.za. “My dog gets super excited - like “brain-exploding excited” - on walks. Can I bring him to classes?” Classes could certainly help in this respect - but bear in mind that if this habit has developed over time it’s not going to be cured in less time than it’s taken to develop. Check out the Obedience Page and drop us a line at the relevant email address.
