Suitable for Almost Every Dog One of the greatest advantages of Scent Work is that almost every dog can participate. How Does Scent Work Differ from Tracking? Although both activities involve using the nose, they are quite different. Tracking follows the scent trail left behind by a person. Scent Work teaches dogs to locate a specific target odour hidden within an area, vehicle, room or container search. Both sports are fascinating - but they challenge dogs in different ways.
Positive, Reward-Based Searching Every exercise is introduced gradually through games that encourage dogs to search confidently and independently. As dogs gain experience, searches become more varied and challenging while remaining enjoyable and rewarding. Watching a dog solve a scent puzzle using nothing but their incredible nose is one of the most satisfying experiences in dog training.

Before You Begin Scent Work is suitable for many dogs with a basic obedience foundation. We recommend that dogs have completed our Elementary Obedience programme or have equivalent skills before joining the class. No previous scent work experience is required.
